New update hitting Sony Xperia XZ, XZs and X Performance

Image
Sony has started pushing out a new update to Xperia XZ, XZs and X Performance smartphones. It's basically a security update that moves the build number to 41.3.A.2.24, and includes Android security fixes for the month of January. The update bumps Android security to January 1 level. Now, why that's important is, Sony had said the update with fixes for "Spectre" and "Meltdown" vulnerabilities would bump the security level to "2018-01-05 or later." So it's safe to assume that these fixes aren't included in this update. Via from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://ift.tt/2DGFspU via IFTTT

Moto X5, G6, G6 Plus, and G6 Play promo images leak alongside spec details

Image
When it rains, it pours - at least that seems to be the case for Motorola-related leaks today. No less than four different models have been outed, from two of the company's series. And all of these could conceivably become official at MWC next month. The Moto X5 is probably the strangest of them all, with its iPhone X-like notch and white software button at the bottom of the screen. Oh, and there's no fingerprint sensor in sight anywhere. Whether that means the X5 will be the second handset ever to sport an in-display fingerprint scanner or not (following the vivo X20 Plus UD) remains to... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://ift.tt/2mDp55h via IFTTT

alcatel 3V specs and press renders leak

Image
alcatel is revamping its branding and product strategy this year, coming out with three distinct series - 1, 3, and 5 - all with 18:9 screens. Some of the lines will have multiple devices, and it already looks like the '3' tier will be the most crowded. We've already seen leaked press renders of the alcatel 3C, and today the 3V got the same treatment. On its own that wouldn't be a lot, because the brand has already put out some teaser renders of its own back at CES. But fret not, for we've also got the full spec sheet for the alcatel 3V to go with the pics. The phone is expected to... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://ift.tt/2FJbIJj via IFTTT

Another upcoming Huawei smartphone gets benchmarked with weird display aspect ratio

Image
Almost every one of the Android device makers seem to have settled on the 18:9 screen aspect ratio throughout 2017, save for Samsung which went for the even taller 18.5:9 for its flagships. Huawei, however, is readying some new phones that go even beyond that. A few days ago we found one such handset sporting an 18.7:9 ratio, and today another model has surfaced, this one with a 19:9 panel. Like the previously outed in-development device from the Chinese company, it has been put through the paces of the HTML5test. This tells us that the Huawei ANE-LX1 runs Android 8.0 Oreo and features a... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://ift.tt/2r9Lb4Y via IFTTT

Image
It has been proven that adding "blockchain" to anything makes it a hugely more popular product. With that in mind, meet the Sugar S11 Blockchain Creation Edition. The design seems like a copy of the ZTE nubia Z17s but the hardware is different. That's not what makes this phone, interesting though. The blockchain in question is Ethereum Fog, which forked off the Ethereum cryptocurrency on January 1 this year.
