Weekly poll: vivo NEX Dual Display, hot or not?

Image
A poll from a month ago showed that people are interested in the extra functionality provided by a second screen. The vivo NEX Dual Display is the latest and, perhaps, most exciting addition to that genre. So, did vivo nail it or not? The eponymous feature comes from the pair of Super AMOLED panels - one 6.39" on the front and one 5.49" on the back. Both have 1080p resolution, but different aspect ratios (19.5:9 and 16:9, respectively). So, what can you do with the second screen? The best use case is to take selfies with the main camera - a 12MP sensor with large 1.4µm pixels and an... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2CzJS1C via IFTTT

Opinion: Bezel-less is not the way forward

Image
How do you imagine the phones in three years? Foldable? Bezel-less? With invisible cameras? Powered by new long-lasting batteries? I could get behind a few of those ideas, sure. But bezel-less - that can't be the way forward. While I agree that the sooner we get rid of those awful notches the better, the bezel-less dream should be put to rest, too. I know this is the unpopular opinion, but just bear with me for a while. I was once a fan of the all-screen phones myself. But having reviewed enough skinny bezel-less smartphones, I just can't imagine myself with a true bezel-less phone - it... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2RAwIf3 via IFTTT

Lunar eclipse 2019: ‘Blood Moon’ on Monday will be the last eclipse to be seen in Britain for 10 years

Image
The Moon will turn red tomorrow as Britain experiences its last total lunar eclipse for 10 years. The eclipse will happen in the early morning of Monday January 21 when the Moon start to darken at 2.35am with full eclipse beginning at 4.40am. It will be free of the Earth’s shadow by 7.49am. It  is the last chance for UK observers to see a total lunar eclipse in its entirety until 2029. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes exactly between the Sun and the Moon creating a shadow which stops solar rays reaching the lunar surface. Spectators can expect the Moon to begin to darken slowly before turning red as it becomes completely caught in Earth’s shade. Sometimes the eclipsed Moon is a deep red colour, almost disappearing from view, and sometimes it can be quite bright. Next weeks Super Blood Wolf Moon will be the last for a decade  Credit: Chris J Ratcliffe January’s full Moon is also known as a ‘wolf moon’, a name deriving from Native American Tribes who said wolve...

Israeli military strikes Iranian targets in Syria

Image
BEIRUT/JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli fighter jets struck Iranian Quds targets inside Syria on Monday and, after coming under fire from anti-aircraft missiles, struck Syrian defense batteries as well, the Israeli military said. Syrian state media cited a Syrian military source as saying Israel launched an "intense attack through consecutive waves of guided missiles", but that Syrian air defenses destroyed most of the "hostile targets". Israel's military said its aerial bombardment targeted "Iranian Quds military sites in Syria", including munition storage sites and a site located in the Damascus International Airport, along with an Iranian intelligence site and an Iranian military training camp. from Yahoo News - Latest News & Headlines https://yhoo.it/2Dmf0D9 via Latest News

E-cigarettes could be banned in US, FDA says

Image
E-cigarettes and vaping products face an "existential threat" in the US if their use among young people continues to rise, the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned. Scott Gottlieb spoke on Friday at a public hearing in Maryland focused on eliminating the use of "electronic cigarette and other tobacco product use" among American youth, at a time when the agency has threatened stores selling e-cigarettes to minors and seized thousands of documents from Juul Labs, the maker of a popular vaporising product, during a surprise inspection of the company's corporate headquarters. If the youth use continues to rise, and we see significant increases in use in 2019, on top of the dramatic rise in 2018, the entire category will face an existential threat,” Mr Gottlieb said. from Yahoo News - Latest News & Headlines https://yhoo.it/2RWBEdG via Latest News
