Today vivo posted another image on its Weibo profile, effectively revealing the new device will be called vivo APEX 2019. LG G8 leaks in CAD-based renders and video, doesn't fold, doesn't have two screens

Image
LG's G8 has finally received the leaked CAD-based renders treatment, ahead of its possible unveiling at MWC next month. There's also a video showcasing the renders, which you can find embedded if you scroll down a bit. This is definitely not a foldable smartphone, so if LG is in fact working on something like that, then it will get another name and might be part of a wholly new, more experimental series. Other rumors have talked about an LG handset with an "attachable" second display, but we're not sure how that might work, especially on this phone that doesn't seem to have any special... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2RMTtvJ via IFTTT

Verizon has a Buy One, Get One free deal for iPhones, Pixels, Samsungs, and LGs

Image
Verizon has decided to offer a pretty interesting Buy One, Get One free (BOGO) deal starting today. In essence, you buy one device from a brand and you can get another one from the same manufacturer for free. There are multiple caveats, as you'd expect, chief of which is the fact that the handset you're receiving for no cost is the cheaper of the bunch. So, for example - if you purchase an iPhone XR, XS, XS Max, or X, you can get an iPhone XR for free. Alternatively if you don't like Apple's most affordable model, the carrier will give you $750 off any other iPhone. Apple iPhone XR's successor to have better LTE performance

However, according to a Barclays research note, the next-generation iPhone XR will no longer be at a disadvantage compared to its peers. The upcoming "budget" iPhone will feature 4x4 MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) antenna design, which will significantly improve the LTE reception and data transfer speeds. Moto G7 with Snapdragon 625 benchmarked, could be the G7 Play

Image
The Moto G7 has been subject to a lot of leaks lately and the Geekbench score sheet that we have here appears to reveal some of the specs of the Play model. It lists the aging Snapdragon 625 chipset and that just doesn't seem like a good fit for the main or the Plus-sized versions. Plus, we've seen solid evidence pointing at Snapdragon 632 and Snapdragon 660 SoCs. Perhaps the vanilla Moto G7 will go with the SD632 while the Plus variant will take the more powerful SD660 on board. However, that's lower than the 32.9% overall growth posted by Huawei, suggesting that the sub-brand is doing worse than its parent. Honor also says that it now ranks first in market share in the mid and high-end online channel market for the same period - an enviable feat for such a young company. Apple boss Tim Cook attacks 'shadow economy' of data in call for new privacy law

Image
Apple’s chief executive Tim Cook has called for the US to introduce a national privacy law, attacking a “shadow economy” in which people’s personal data is bought and sold without their knowledge. Mr Cook said companies should have to collect as little data as possible and make it easy for people to delete the information that is held about them. It is the latest attempt from Apple to position itself as the steward of consumers’ privacy, and to draw a line between itself and companies such as Facebook and Google. Mr Cook said that people need to “win back their right to privacy” and that companies that sell data should have to register with the Federal Trade Commission, the US consumer watchdog. “I and others are calling on the US Congress to pass comprehensive federal privacy legislation - a landmark package of reforms that protect and empower the consumer,” Mr Cook wrote in Time Magazine. He singled out “data brokers”, companies that purchase, bundle up and sell data on individuals,

In third year, U.S. women's marches turn to 2020 elections

Image
Millions of people took part in the women's marches in Washington and other cities in the United States and abroad on Jan. 21, 2017, the day after the Republican president was sworn in. Vanessa Wruble, a co-founder of the original Women's March on Washington who left to start March On, a separate grassroots coalition, said the movement has evolved from being a reaction to Trump's presidency. Women's March, a national nonprofit organization that evolved from the initial Washington march, is using its #WomensWave marches in Washington and elsewhere on Saturday to roll out a 10-part policy platform that includes raising the federal minimum wage and protecting reproductive rights. from Yahoo News - Latest News & Headlines https://yhoo.it/2Mg1aVY via Latest News

Paul Manafort: Trump's disgraced campaign chief said he was placing people in administration, court filing says

Image
Paul Manafort, the convicted former chairman of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, told a business associate in January 2017 he was using middlemen to get people appointed to the Trump administration, according to a court filing on Tuesday. US Special Counsel Robert Mueller had been given until Monday by a federal court in Washington to provide evidence of his accusations that Mr Manafort had lied to prosecutors on five subjects, which would put him in breach of a plea agreement under which he was meant to be cooperating with Mr Mueller’s probe. The heavily redacted 188-page filing included some new details about Mr Manafort’s communications with Trump administration officials, which continued even after he left the campaign in August 2016 due to a scandal over cash payments related to his work for pro-Russia politicians in Ukraine. from Yahoo News - Latest News & Headlines https://yhoo.it/2szA6YO via Latest News

Image
A group of 71 opposition Labour lawmakers have urged their leader Jeremy Corbyn in a new letter to swing behind a second referendum on remaining part of the European Union, Sky News reported. May's Brexit deal suffered a crushing defeat in parliament on Tuesday, raising the prospect of the government seeking a different plan, leaving the EU with no deal at all or even a second referendum. Labour's position is to push for a general election as a first preference, but to maintain the possibility of a second referendum if this does not happen. from Yahoo News - Latest News & Headlines https://yhoo.it/2T0h6hq via Latest News

US air traffic controllers say system ‘eroding’ beneath them due to government shutdown

Image
Federal air traffic controllers have warned that the government shutdown is going to make travel delays worse given its dwindling workforce, which has already suffered from record low employment rates in recent years. With the federal closure well into its fourth week, officials with the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (Natca) say that dysfunction in Washington is causing undue stress for their members who already have precious little room for error in their jobs. Without money coming in, air traffic controllers who have been required to come to work and oversee the delicate dance between planes as they take off, land, and taxi at high speeds must now also worry about whether they have money to pay for their mortgages and child care payments. from Yahoo News - Latest News & Headlines https://yhoo.it/2CttSye via Latest News
