Apple suspends business with Pegatron over misuse of its student worker program

Image
Apple has so many partners overseas and it tries to make sure that all its suppliers are following labor laws and regulations. Pegatron is one of Apple’s biggest partners, and it’s the second-largest producer of iPhones globally, the company also builds Mac computes, iPads, and other components. This company, along with Foxconn, are pumping out the new lineup of iPhones as fast as Apple can (pre)sell them. Apple has released a public statement about Pegatron where thousands of students were illegally working overnight shifts and overtime at the Shanghai factory, violating labor... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/36iyWEh via IFTTT

Xiaomi announces the Mi Box 4S Pro with 8K video decoding

Image
Xiaomi announced a successor to its Mi Box 4 Pro called Mi Box 4S Pro and even though it looks identical to the old one and the name implies a rather incremental update, this is definitely not the case here. In addition to its long feature list, the Mi Box 4S Pro gains 8K video decoding, which is probably the most notable addition. Mi Box 4S Pro The HDMI standard has been bumped up to 2.1 to accommodate the 8K video playback above 30fps. There are also 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage - the latter has been doubled compared to the 4 Pro. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 to have stereo speakers, tipster says

Image
Samsung released its 5G-wielding Galaxy Z Flip back in July with few hardware changes over the original model. Today, we have our first bit of info on the Galaxy Z Flip 2 which is tipped to come with stereo speakers. z flip 2 5g 🤭#h121#mediumlevelcompany pic.twitter.com/DzKYMfVGRV— Ricciolo (@Ricciolo1) November 3, 2020 This would be a welcome improvement over the two previous Z Flips which only came with a single downward-firing speaker, which felt like a letdown on such a high-end device. MagSafe Charger found to work on Galaxy Z Fold2, Pixel 5

Image
Arguably the most attention-grabbing addition of the iPhone 12 series (apart from 5G) is the new MagSafe accessory ecosystem. The premise is simple all new iPhones have a magnetic ring around the wireless charging coil on their backs, which can snap to a range of accessories from wallets to mounts and wireless charging pads. The MagSafe charger is Apple’s first foray into wireless charging for iPhone after the whole AirPower fiasco but now it was found to be working just fine on some non-Apple phones. Granted the MagSafe charger works on the Qi interface so any device that supports... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2HmU4Ra via IFTTT

Huawei’s Kirin 9000 to equip 24-core GPU

Image
Last week, Huawei’s Kirin 9000 was scored on the popular AnTuTu benchmarking app where it scored neck-and-neck with the Exynos 1080. It scored notably better (287,000+) in GPU portions of the benchmark, which were ahead of both Qualcomm and Samsung’s Exynos top performers. Today, well-known leaker @IceUniverse tweeted a rumor that the Kirin 9000 is sporting a 24-core GPU. The leakster notes that the Mali G78 MP24 is clocked at lower frequencies to distribute the load and keep things power efficient. Kirin9000 GPU uses Mali G78 MP24, yes, 24, the highest specification, but the frequency... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/37mMIbi via IFTTT

nubia Watch in for review

Image
The futuristic Amazfit X wearable with its curved screen doesn't stand unchallanged. Today we welcome the nubia Watch that has a panel stretching even further in both directions. It arrived on sale earlier this month for $219/€219/£189 and is available in over 40 markets. Here are our initial impressions of the wearable before going all-in with the full review. The smartwatch looks rather unique - at first, it looks like it can bend at will but the curves are actually fixed so fit will vary from user to user. The appearance of the nubia watch is also puzzling. We can say the... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/3dARBys via IFTTT

Deal: Galaxy Note10 drops to lowest price ever

Image
If you love Samsung's Galaxy Note line but think the new Note20 Ultra is too expensive and the Note20 is too plastic while being too expensive, perhaps you should take a look at one of last year's models. And wouldn't you know it, it just so happens that today is your lucky day. Microsoft's eBay store has decided to sell the Galaxy Note10 for the lowest price ever. That's $549.99 all-in, no contracts, no installment plans, nothing like that. It's quite a drop from its initial recommended retail price of $949.99, although recently it's been near the $600 mark a lot. Samsung finally outs full specs of the Galaxy A42 5G

Image
At the beginning of last month, Samsung semi-unveiled its cheapest 5G phone yet, the Galaxy A42 5G. G Suite gets rebranded to Google Workspace with new icons in tow, including for Gmail

Image
To say that Google as a company loves to rebrand its services would be a massive understatement. And today, it's done it again. The bundle of services previously known as G Suite is now called Google Workspace. This includes the same services as before, although with the new overall branding come new icons for the individual parts of Workspace, including Gmail, in what is the biggest change to its iconography since its inception. Gone is the envelope, while the M has stayed but isn't all red anymore, now incorporating all the Google colors. The same logic applies to the other icons... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2SuOdLO via IFTTT

Flashback: the Nexus 4 cost less than half what the Pixel 5 costs, but it had a flagship chipset

Image
The Nexus line may have had a rocky start, but it elicits love from fans in a way that the Pixels never quite managed. The trouble with the Pixels is that they are premium phones with premium prices whereas the Nexus line invented the “flagship killer” in all but name. That came about with the Nexus 4, which launched at a price of $300/€300/£280 (for the 8GB model, $350/€350 for 16GB). A year after launch you could have it for as little as $200, but even the launch price is less than half of what Google is asking for the new Pixel 5 unveiled earlier this week. It’s less than what the Pixel... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/30z3YpA via IFTTT

Gboard for Android TV gets a redesign

Image
Google is rolling out an updated version of Gboard for Android TV. The update seems to be rolling out server-side, so installing the latest version of the app doesn't seem to help at the moment. The main change in this update is a complete redesign of the keyboard. Previously, Gboard would span the entire width of the display when it popped up on the bottom. The new design looks much like what it does on phones, with a narrower design that doesn't take up as much space. Oddly enough, some apps will still stretch the keyboard background across the width of the screen, even... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/3n0xRZn via IFTTT

Caviar pays tribute to the Apple I, the original hand-built computer, with a custom iPhone 12

Image
Everyone today is familiar with the sleek iPhones and all-aluminum Macs, but how many remember Apple’s first product – the Apple I? The computer was designed and hand-built by Steve Wozniak and it has a very DIY look. Of course, back then Apple Computer Inc was headquartered in the garage of Steve Jobs’ parents. Production of the Apple I was discontinued on September 30 1977 – 43 years ago, almost to the day – so Caviar decided to celebrate the moment of Apple’s inception with special editions of the upcoming iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max.
