Mexican city shuts down migrant shelter near US border, blaming 'bad sanitary conditions'The city of Tijuana has closed down a migrant shelter close to the US border where as many as 6,000 Central American migrants have been staying as they wait for their asylum claims to be processed. The migrants are now being moved from the sports centre where the shelter had been located to a former concert venue that is much further from the US-Mexico border, officials have said. The facilities were designed to hold about half as many people as had been placed there as the migrants arrived from their long journeys north through Mexico.
