Iran says US must return to nuclear deal before meeting with Trump
Iran has said that the US must return to the Iranian nuclear agreement before there is any possibility of direct talks as suggested by Donald Trump. The Iranian government was responding to a comment by Mr Trump on Monday that he would be prepared to sit down with Iranian leaders without preconditions “anytime they want”. “Respecting the Iranian nation’s rights, reducing hostilities and returning to the nuclear deal are steps that can be taken to pave the bumpy road of talks between Iran and America,” said Hamid Aboutalebi, an advisor to Iranian president Hassan Rouhani. Iran's foreign ministry said a meeting was "definitely not" possible under the administration's current policies.
