OnePlus 7 Pro appears in the wild, might be the company's 5G phone

Image
It's no secret OnePlus is working on a 5G phone, the company confirmed so at MWC. However we have very little information apart from its Snapdragon 855 chipset and X50 modem giving it 5G capabilities. Today, two photos of the alleged 5G OnePlus phone popped up on Weibo revealing some key specs and its curved screen design with minimal bezels. OnePlus 7 Pro The source calls the phone the OnePlus 7 Pro and bears the GM1915 model name. The about section in one of the images reveals the device is packing a 6.67" Super Optic display, Snapdragon 855 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. Huawei Mate X will be available in June, was briefly listed on Vmall

Image
The Huawei Mate X will be available later this year, but the company has been pretty vague about the launch date. A slip-up on Vmall (a Huawei-run online retailer) may have spoiled the mystery, however. A page for Huawei's first foldable phone (which is also its first 5G phone) went up, showing a June release date. That page has since been taken down. Officially, the Mate X will be available in mid-2019 at a price of €2,300. The specs of the phone are, of course, no secret - we even have a video preview if you want more details. We download older, more established apps but newer games

Image
We're now mostly downloading apps that are around 5 years old, says Eric Feng - Founding CTO of Hulu. The Top 30 apps in Apple's App Store are, on average, 1,853 days old (5 years) compared to 625 days old (less than 2 years) in 2014. This means people are choosing to download more established apps in place of newer ones. Of course this is the place where you'll find the must-have Facebook, Instagram, Google Maps, Spotify and the like. The story is the same on Android where the Top 30 apps on the Google Play Store are, on average, 4 years old in 2019 and were 18 months old in... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2Gc69p8 via IFTTT

Counterpoint: Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6T adopters came over from Samsung

Image
Here's an interesting stat - among Google Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6T buyers in Q4 of 2018 in the US, the most were former Samsung owners. Less than 20% were iPhone users. Now let's clarify a bit. According to Counterpoint Research data, some 51% of Pixel 3 buyers in the States were owners of a Galaxy smartphone, however 31% of them owned a three year old Galaxy S7. While 37% of OnePlus 6T buyers came from a Samsung phone, many of them used either a Samsung J2 Prime or the aforementioned Galaxy S7. Also worth noting is that 80% of the Pixel 3's sales came from owners of Android devices... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2U6imzB via IFTTT

Qualcomm unveils 11nm Snapdragon 665, 8nm Snapdragon 730 and 730G with improved graphics

Image
Today Qualcomm took the wraps off its two newest mobile chipsets: the Snapdragon 665 and the Snapdragon 730 (which also gets a 730G bin, with 15% better graphics). Snapdragon 665 The Snapdragon 665 seems to be intended as the successor to the Snapdragon 660. Compared to that, it's made on a smaller 11nm LPP process, which means it should bring some battery life improvements to the table as well as some cost reduction. Like its predecessor, the 665 has four Kryo 260 cores, based off of the ARM Cortex-A73 microarchitecture, but these only go up to 2GHz compared to 2.2 GHz in the... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2Gcbay7 via IFTTT

Exclusive: Honor 20 (or Honor 20 Pro) case render leak shows space for many rear cameras

Image
Today a trusted source who wishes to remain anonymous but has been reliable in the past sent us an image of an upcoming official case for a yet unannounced Honor device. Here it is in all its glory: While seeing just the case doesn't give us a lot of information about the phone it's designed for, there are still some educated guesses we can make. First off, it looks like this handset will have a bunch of rear cameras, as the cutout for those is quite big. The design of the cutout itself makes us think of the Huawei P30 Pro's camera arrangement, with the LED flash placed to the right of... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2IayCxV via IFTTT

LG G8 ThinQ review

Image
Even though the name states otherwise, the G8 ThinQ is actually a minor hardware refresh of last year's LG G7 ThinQ. Sure, it has the brand new Snapdragon 855 behind the wheel and a couple of neat (kind of) software and hardware features. But are they enough to battle the newly released Galaxy S10 trio or even the Huawei P30-series? After all, both Huawei and Samsung went along with not one but a couple of cutting-edge awe-inspiring features. from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2InEK5i via IFTTT

Image
First, it was the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 with Helio A22 in the Philippines. Then it appeared with less RAM as the Huawei Y6 2019, eventually getting rebranded as Y6 Prime 2019 in Pakistan. Now a similar phone with somewhat shorter screen and the name Huawei Y5 2019 popped up with a photo and some specs.
