Phone with in-screen selfie camera appears in the wild

Image
Yesterday Huawei teased its own iteration of the Infinity-O screens that Samsung is planning to implement in 2019 - a selfie camera, tucked into a cutout of the screen. Today an image of a similar device popped up in one person's hands in a subway carriage in China. Looking further into the image, we can see the camera lens is positioned in the upper left corner where the notifications appear. There aren't any notches on the screen, but the pre-production body could be hiding some of them. While the camera seems to be an eye sore, we have to wait until a more clear image... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2Aumamu via IFTTT

Microsoft shortly passed Apple as the most valuable American company

Image
For a while this Monday, Microsoft surpassed Apple as the most valuable United States-based company. The software company hit a valuation point of $813 billion today, which was just $1 billion ahead of Apple. Considering that not long ago Apple (and Amazon not too long after) broke $1 trillion valuation, it has come a long way down since then, due in part to Apple's latest (and most expensive) smartphones (XR, XS, XS Max) not selling as well as anticipated. It isn't to say that Microsoft hasn't faced any challenges lately, but Apple has been just been barely able to get by with... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2Aqu14p via IFTTT

Moto G7 Play shows up at the FCC, images and specs outed

Image
Although past rumors convinced us that there wouldn't be a Moto G7 Play next year, the FCC begs to differ. The phone has been spotted in the agency's documents today, and unlike most of its listings which don't reveal much about the devices that are certified, this one's a got quite a lot of information. We assume this might have been a mistake, either on the FCC's part, or Motorola's, but regardless of who's to blame, we can only be happy to present you the G7 Play in all its glory. The handset will have the model number XT1952, and you'll be able to get it in black or... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2KxY4fb via IFTTT

Lenovo Z5s gets certified with three cameras on the rear, might sport the Snapdragon 8150 SoC

Image
Lenovo seems to be working on another member of its ever-expanding Z5 family. Following the original Z5 and the Z5 Pro which was announced at the beginning of this month, it looks like a Z5s is in the pipeline. What's more, past rumors said this might be the first smartphone to be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8150 chipset. The Z5s, model number L78071, has already been certified by TENAA, 3C, and MIIT in China, so its release may only be a matter of weeks now. The phone has three rear cameras, a 6.3-inch display, a 3,210 mAh battery, and probably a water drop... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2E1Dd3a via IFTTT

Samsung Galaxy A and M-series details emerge: storage and color options

Image
The upcoming shake up of Samsung's product lines is slowly being revealed through rumors. The latest is a summary of storage options and colors for the entry level Galaxy A and Galaxy M phones. Samsung is reportedly seriously thinking about bringing White back as a launch day color option. But it seems that is reserved for the A-series, the cheaper M models will have a more limited palette. It's not clear if any of these are gradient colors or not. The naming will change as well, moving to with double-digit numbers - so SM-M205F will be Galaxy M20 not M2. Interestingly, storage is... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2FKnJlX via IFTTT

Samsung Galaxy A8s to have LCD Infinity-O display, made by BOE

Image
According to an unconfirmed industry report, Samsung could turn to Chinese display maker BOE to produce the Infinity-O panel for the upcoming Galaxy A8s. What's more interesting is that the panel could be of the LCD variety, instead of OLED, as a cost-saving measure. BOE is currently tasked with making the 6.39-inch OLED display on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Speaking of Huawei, we know it will try and beat Samsung to the first smartphone with a hole in the display, so can we guess that its smartphone will also use a BOE-made LCD. Producing an LCD with a hole is no doubt harder than... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2BAv5V3 via IFTTT

Case for Nokia 9 appears on Amazon, has enough holes for 5 cameras and a flash

Image
UniqueMe jumped the gun and published a Nokia 9 case on Amazon UK. This isn't the first case for the upcoming flagship, but it's the first one to appear in a store. It has enough holes for the 5 camera array (plus flash). Notably, there's a hole missing - one for the fingerprint reader. The Nokia 9 will reportedly have an in-display reader, so that makes sense. Unfortunately, the only image available doesn't offer a good look at the bottom. That's certainly a USB-C port in the middle, but what about the holes on each side?
