Saudi King Salman welcomed Iraq's new President Barham Saleh Sunday on his first official visit to the kingdom, amid a warming of ties between the Arab neighbours after years of strain. The king hosted a lunch and "discussed regional developments" with Saleh, the official Saudi Press Agency said, after the Iraqi leader's arrival in Riyadh following a visit to Saudi Arabia's arch-rival Iran. Protest greets Apple's Champs Elysees launch

Image
The launch of an Apple store on the Champs Elysees in Paris was greeted Sunday by a protest against the US multinational's controversial fiscal practices. The group had staged a sit-in at Apple's flagship Paris store in December 2017, and in February a French court declined to approve a ban on such actions following a request by the US computer giant. "We have come to celebrate in our own way the inauguration of Apple's Champs Elysees store, to remind people that Apple is one of the biggest tax evaders in the world," Attac spokeswoman Aurelie Trouve told AFP at the protest, which featured a brass band. from Yahoo News - Latest News & Headlines https://ift.tt/2qTl7YD via Latest News

Trump declines to blame Saudi prince over Khashoggi killing despite reports CIA hold him responsible

Image
Donald Trump has declined to say that Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Arabian crown prince, ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi despite new reports that the CIA has reached that conclusion.  The US president said on Saturday that he would get a briefing from the agency on the topic soon, adding: “As of this moment we were told that he did not play a role. We're going to have to find out what they have to say.” Mr Trump also called the Saudis "a truly spectacular ally in terms of jobs and economic development," and added that, when deciding how to act over the killing, he has "to take a lot of things into consideration".  He later said he expected a full report on Monday or Tuesday. The State Department also released a statement saying the US government had not yet reached a final decision about who was responsible. The comments came the day after both The Washington Post and The New York Times reported that the CIA had intelligence linking the crown...
