Android Pie firmware reveals four Samsung Galaxy S10 models

Image
Earlier, XDA-Developers revealed Android Pie changes that are coming in a future update for the Samsung Galaxy S9+. Now, XDA finds evidence that there might be four Galaxy S10 models including a 5G-enabled one. In the early firmware files, there are four devices codenamed "beyond 0", "beyond 1", "beyond 2", and "beyond 2 5G". The small files containing these names don't contain anything much more than that. Here's a breakdown of the names and which device they might represent. Each model is referred to as "beyond" which is the main codename for the Galaxy S10. Then, there's a... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2xoTZ7s via IFTTT

YouTube Gaming app will shut down in March

Image
The YouTube Gaming app originally launched a few years ago as a way for gamers to find content specific to video games, gameplay, and gamer YouTubers that was a separate entity from the main YouTube app. Some of those features eventually made their way to the main YouTube app, so the need for a separate YouTube Gaming app is now redundant and no longer needed. As a result, the YouTube gaming app will officially be shut down in March of 2019. Of course, the YouTube Gaming platform isn't going away, it's still going to be accessible to find gaming content via a web portal. Here's a first look at the Samsung Galaxy S9+ running Android Pie

Image
Samsung is one of the most popular Android smartphone makers and it is also perhaps the one with the longest delay between major updates, sometimes skipping releases altogether. Android Pie came out in early August and just over two months later and we're already seeing some of the new features to come for the Samsung Experience UI on the Galaxy S9+. XDA-Developers got its hands on an early build of Android Pie for a Snapdragon variant of the Samsung Galaxy S9+ with a host of notable changes to the Android skin. The early build is from Firmware.Science and is in a developmental stage so... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2NYV930 via IFTTT

Sony Xperia XZ3 goes on pre-order in the US for $899.99

Image
Sony's Xperia XZ3 is now finally up for pre-order in the US. It was announced at IFA in Berlin last month, and it's the Japanese company's latest high-end device. Pre-orders in Europe opened immediately afterwards, but in a weird twist it turns out that it will be released in the US first. The official launch date in the States is September 24, while across the pond you'll need to wait until October 5 to receive your XZ3. If you are in the US and want one, you will need to fork out $899.99 for the privilege. You are getting an unlocked model for all that cash, but as usual with Sony... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2QHgexp via IFTTT

Google Maps now works with Apple's CarPlay in iOS 12

Image
iOS 12 supports third party map apps in CarPlay, and Google has now updated its very own Maps in the App Store in order to enable this functionality. You obviously need an iPhone with iOS 12 on board in order for this to work. Head over to the App Store to download (or update to) Google Maps' newest version (that's 5.0, by the way). And then voila, you aren't stuck with Apple Maps in your car anymore. CarPlay is Apple's version of Android Auto, in a nutshell. It lets you use some of your phone's functionality through your car's touchscreen, in supported vehicles. Google Maps on... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2OA4ICF via IFTTT

Google Home Hub 7-inch smart display leaks, doesn't have a camera

Image
When it comes to the phones that Google will announce at its big event on October 9, we already know pretty much everything there is to know about them (aside from pricing information, that is). But these shindigs have in the past yielded more products being unveiled than just handsets, and it looks like this year will be no different. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the upcoming Google Home Hub. It's a 7-inch smart display, preparing to enter a nascent market already populated by the Lenovo Smart Display and the JBL Link View. The Google Home branding isn't a mistake - think of this basically... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2Dah5UQ via IFTTT

Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL renders leak, cloth cases in tow

Image
There's little about the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL that has not leaked yet, but there's still room for surprises - a pleasant one in this case. A leak shows that Google will continue making the cool fabric cases that the 2nd generation phones got. These images show the Carbon version of the case, but the Pixel 2 also had a Cement (lighter gray), Midnight and Coral. We might see more color options for the cases this year to go with the Pink , Black, White and Mint color options for the Pixel 3. The October 11 event will be Samsung's first Unpacked in Malaysia

Image
The 4x fun event that Samsung has planned for October 11 will be held in Malaysia - the first time a Samsung Unpacked event visits the country. The invites that Samsung sent out to the local press do not contain any hints as to what the company will announce. The Galaxy J6+ and J4+ remain the most likely options (perhaps a local version) while the foldable phone that Samsung has promised for later this year is the most exciting possibility. Either way, the new Samsung device (which may not be a phone at all) will come a day after the Razer 2 is unveiled and a couple of days after... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2MJFkZF via IFTTT

OnePlus 6 long-term review

Image
The OnePlus 6: still a top notch deal? If so, is that despite or maybe even thanks to its top notch? Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth retail box lists Snapdragon 660

Image
We are just a day before the official unveiling of the Mi 8 Youth and a leaked retail box has surfaced online suggesting that we've been wrong about the SoC all along. Initial reports claimed that the Mi 8 Youth would arrive with either Snapdragon 710 or 670 with the former being a more plausible option. However, the retail box shows a Snapdragon 660 is going to sit behind the wheel. Interestingly, the source claims that this is a retail box for the Taiwanese market, which could very well mean that the Chinese or the global version will end up with the rumored SD710 or SD670. Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max review roundup

Image
The first batch of reviews of Apple's latest and greatest - the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max - are out. They all agree that bigger is better, however there's disagreement on how good the camera and battery life are. That aside, there's a common thread that Apple charges a high price, but skimps on accessories. The Verge has the same pros and cons for both phones. The display, speakers and battery are great, the camera is "very good" with Portrait mode called out specifically for its hit-or-miss performance. TechCrunch says that the iPhone XS does not target iPhone X users, but one of the... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2Oxh52k via IFTTT

Realme reaches 1 million sales

Image
The Oppo sub-brand Realme is celebrating 1 million users, which is made all the more impressive by just how young it is - the Realme 1 launched in May this year and the followup came in August. The Realme 2 sold 200,000 units in the first flash sale, the second sale brought the total to 370,000. In both cases the available units ran out in minutes. There was another sale earlier today, but we don't have the numbers from that one. The 1 million number is a total of both the Realme 1 and 2. Those two will be joined by the Realme 2 Pro in less than 10 days. Source | Via from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2Oz9i4e via IFTTT

Samsung Galaxy J4+ and J6+ unveiled: 6" screens and quad-core processors

Image
It wasn't the most orthodox unveiling, but the Galaxy J4+ and Galaxy J6+ are official. Though if you ask us those should have been called the J4+ and J4++. Both phones have 6" screens with 720 x 1,480px resolution and both are powered by a quad-core processor (1.4GHz, possibly the Exynos 7570 Quad from the Galaxy J4). Both have 3,300mAh batteries and both run Android 8.1 Oreo. The two phones diverge in terms of memory - the Galaxy J6+ comes with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of storage.
