You now have ten minutes to take back embarrassing texts you send on Facebook Messenger

Image
Last year Facebook was caught deleting already sent messages by Mark Zuckerberg on the company's Messenger platform, and it then vowed to bring this same functionality to every user of the app. This has now finally happened. A new unsend feature is now rolling out to Facebook Messenger globally. This allows you to remove accidentally sent messages so that they're gone for everyone in the conversation, deleted once and for all. You do need to act fast, though - removal is only permitted within ten minutes of sending the message. If you do choose to go this route, you'll need to... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2GdkfaT via IFTTT

Google Assistant's "interpreter mode" rolls out for Google Home speakers and displays

Image
At CES, Google showed off an interpreter mode on Google Home displays which let two people carry a conversation with Google Assistant as a translator. The feature is still not perfect but is already rolling out on Google Assistant devices - The Verge confirms this in its own testing. A new support page is up on Google's website describing how to initiate the mode to translate phrases between two languages. You can start by asking it to "help me speak Spanish", "Interpret Spanish to English", "Spanish interpreter", or "Be my French interpreter". This will initiate the mode which can... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2DUjotj via IFTTT

vivo NEX Dual Display edition gets torn down on video

Image
vivo's NEX Dual Display edition is definitely one of the more intriguing phones of the past few months, with its two screens. Not just that, but the secondary panel isn't just a tiny one, measuring 5.49" in fact. We've already seen some disassembly pictures of the NEX Dual Display last month, but if you're into phone teardowns then you should probably also watch the video embedded below, the newest in a series from YouTube channel JerryRigEverything. You'll find that disassembling this phone isn't incredibly easy, and once you're in some surprises do await, like how basically the... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2GcF9XR via IFTTT

Apple faces class action lawsuit over iOS update that disabled old chargers

Image
A new class action lawsuit against Apple was filed by a California law firm with yesterday's date alleging that Apple knowingly released an update that would stop older Apple chargers or charging cables from charging iPhones, forcing users to buy new Apple original chargers. iOS devices would display a message that read "This accessory may not be supported". Apple iPhone 6S Back in November of 2016, Apple pushed an iOS update (presumably version 10.1.1) that was allegedly "designed and programmed to reject, starting in November 2016, old iPhone chargers from properly charging the... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2MOav7w via IFTTT

Samsung's Galaxy Sport leaks in Black, Blue and Gold

Image
Yesterday we saw the second render of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Sport smartwatch and today we get three new ones, showing more watch faces and more of the design. In addition to the Silver we've already seen, the Galaxy Sport will come in Black, Blue and Gold. The color of the brushed metal casing and buckle is matched by the rubber band of the watch. If the renders prove accurate then the Galaxy Sport will have a somewhat thick bezel. The Tizen OS will likely be loaded with OLED-friendly dark watchfaces to at least partially mask this. The Galaxy Sport has already received the... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2SduO4b via IFTTT

Revised Samsung Galaxy F renders show a much thinner device with smaller bezels

Image
We know surprisingly little about the foldable Samsung Galaxy, even though Samsung has made at least two announcements about it -first the screen, then the whole thing at CES. But really it was the leaked official video that offered the most details. That helped LetsGoDigital refine its original 3D render. Perhaps the most visible change is the hinge, it folds flat and isn't segmented like the Surface Book hinge. The whole thing looks surprisingly thin, actually. Part of that is a new polarizer filter, which is 45% thinner (Samsung talked about that at its developer conference). The... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2GokRKh via IFTTT

Merkel wants safeguards to keep China from accessing data through Huawei

Image
The US reportedly contacted multiple countries to talk them into banning Huawei from supplying hardware for their 5G networks. Germany may be the first not to agree - Chancellor Angela Merkel has laid out the rules for the company to work in Germany. Nothing complicated, Merkel simply wants guarantees that Huawei will not be handing over data to the Chinese government. For what it's worth, the company has denied the allegations by the US and no proof of spying has been officially revealed (but allegations of trade secret theft have been filed). Moto Z4 Play to have a 48MP camera and Snapdragon 675 chipset

Image
Newly surfaced details about the Moto Z4 Play make it sound pretty close to the Motorola P40. We saw in the CAD-based renders that it will feature a watrerdrop notch and a circular camera hump on the back. That hump will house a 48MP sensor - not the Sony or the Samsung one, but the S5KGM1SP by Q Technology. The P40 is also expected to have a 48MP sensor, but it goes up to a dual camera on the back and a punch hole selfie cam. Xiaomi receives patent for dual punch-hole camera phone

Image
Punch hole cameras inside the screen appear to be the hot trend right now. We've already seen Samsung and Huawei (along with its subsidiary Honor) implementing the tech, and according to a patent, Xiaomi will join as well. A listing on the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO)'s website revealed the Chinese manufacturer received a patent for a dual punch-hole design. Some of the patented designs Xiaomi's implementation is a bit different than the dual camera, expected in the Galaxy S10+. Samsung Galaxy S10 pre-orders will start on February 21

Image
We've known for a while that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will go on pre-order just days after the February 20 Unpacked event. That's not quite right as it turns out, it's not "days", plural - pre-orders start the day after the event. Here's a teaser poster from Indonesia that lists both dates. Yes, it says "February 21" for the Unpacked event, but look at the time - it's just after midnight (so, it's still be the 20th in the west where the event is held). The actual sales will kick off on March 8. Poster announces the Samsung Galaxy S10 pre-order date Anyway, the site,... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2Se2Buj via IFTTT

Image
Xiaomi announced the Redmi Go in the Philippines and the Redmi Note 7 as a sub-brand spin-off in China. We're yet to see the phones on other markets, but info about availability in India has just popped up online. Both phones will appear there in all colors, but the Redmi Note 7's 6 GB RAM version won't make it. Xiaomi Redmi Go The Redmi Go arrived for PHP3,990 or about $75 in Blue or Black. JioPhone 3 will be an all touch smartphone for $63

Image
Indian carrier Reliance Jio released a simple phone - the Jio Phone - and it quickly became the 10th largest brand in the world, not to mention topping the charts in its local market where it's the largest featurephone vendor by a large margin. But the company wants more and an exec (speaking anonymously) offered some details about the third phone. It will be an all-touch smartphone with a 5" screen. The chipset is unknown, but it will have 2GB of RAM and a generous 64GB storage (plus a microSD slot). That's powerful enough to run Android, but it will be interesting to see if Jio go for... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2Gmv61C via IFTTT

Renders show what the Galaxy A90 with a pop-up selfie camera might look like

Image
The Samsung Galaxy A90 is said to be the company's first phone with a pop-up camera and new renders show what it might look like. There's a version with the camera off to the to the side and another with the camera in the center. Given that both show a triple camera aligned vertically along the center line, we think it's more likely that the selfie camera will be to the side. The motor takes up some room and so does the triple camera. With no selfie camera to get in the way, the display is free to expand to almost the entire front - the phone reportedly has a 92% screen-to-body ratio.... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles http://bit.ly/2TxTAIS via IFTTT

The latest shows two dummies, which may not power on, but still offer a good look of the flagship to come. Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ dummies These are the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ (you can tell by the curved screens). Have a look around, you can see more than you could in the 3D renders. Redmi throws shade at Samsung Galaxy M series

Image
India is a crucial market both for Xiaomi and Samsung, and the companies are trying their best to stay on top, even if it includes taking digs at the competition. Xiaomi said the Redmi Note 7 will turn your head around and after showing an upside-down photo of Lei Jun and Manu Kumar Jain, the campaign is going one step further. Xiaomi claims a Mobile with TFT display is just too old, revealing a shady M display, openly mocking the screen of the Galaxy M20.
