All Nokia phones by HMD will get Android P, company confirms

Image
HMD has confirmed that all its Nokia-branded smartphones - including the newly-unveiled Nokia 5.1, 3.1, and 2.1 - will get the Android P update. The confirmation came from the company's global marketing manager Neil Broadley during the Moscow event. It's worth mentioning that the company gave this commitment last year as well for its existing phones back then, but we've seen companies backtrack on such bold promises once their portfolios start to swell up, so it's good to have some extra assurance. Meanwhile, HMD CPO Juho Sarvikas confirmed during the event that the Nokia 8 will get... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2H1PiCH via IFTTT

Google Maps reviews get search for keywords and phrases

Image
Google Maps has been updated with a new feature: ability to search reviews for keywords or phrases. The functionality is now live on both Android and iOS and clients of the service. This lets you look up, say, "wheelchair" to know more about the accessibility or "vegetarian" when you want to see how the place's vegetarian options are rated. To access the feature, all you have to do is search for a place on Google Maps, tap the Reviews tab or scroll down to the Reviews section, and simply type what you are looking for into the search bar. Deal: Verizon Wear24 smartwatch is down to $49.99 again in possible clearance sale

Image
Verizon launched an own-brand smartwatch running Android Wear last year. The Wear24 debuted at $349.99, but the carrier promptly discontinued it only a few months later, following pretty bad reviews all-round. The fact that you haven't been able to buy one from Verizon for quite a while now doesn't mean doesn't mean there aren't sill units waiting to be sold. Case in point: an eBay seller with 98.5% positive feedback is now offering the Verizon Wear24 for the incredibly low price of $49.99. We're assuming this is a clearance sale of some sort, and at the moment more than 98% of the... from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2sjppcZ via IFTTT

OnePlus 6 torn down to inspect its water protection

Image
The OnePlus 6 has been torn down, burnt, bent and scratched, but its water resistant is yet to be tested. OnePlus never mentioned an IP-rating, so JerryRigEverything set out to find out. Spoilers: all openings appear to be sealed. The big holes (USB, headphone jack, buttons) have rubber rings around them, though the one on the card tray seems a bit small. The sound-related holes (mics, speaker grilles) have meshes to keep the water out. So, the phone is definitely spill-resistant, but it's not clear how it will handle water under pressure - either from submersion or water jets. from GSMArena.com - Latest articles https://ift.tt/2Jfcz9d via IFTTT
